I teach ESL and would like to know how to explain to the sts. the difference between sick and ill.?

in a very clear way, if possible. ThanksI teach ESL and would like to know how to explain to the sts. the difference between sick and ill.?
sick and ill are synonyms. They aren't different. You can be sick or ill... it means the same thing.

You need to teach your ESL students that there are things called synonyms... words that mean the same thing, but there may be many words for that one thing... show them a thesaurus. Have them pick a word or you pick a word that you know is in the thesaurus, and look it up with them. Read the many words for that one word. All of those words mean the same thing, but there are just multiple ways to say it. Like the word ';wet'; can also be said as moist, damp, or saturated. All the same thing. These are called synonyms, just like ill and sick; pretty and beautiful, egg and embryo.I teach ESL and would like to know how to explain to the sts. the difference between sick and ill.?
