If I robbed criminals of their ill-gotten gains, would the police turn a blind eye to it?

I live in SE England. If I robbed criminals of their ill-gotten gains, would the police turn a blind eye to it?
YES the police do very little these daysIf I robbed criminals of their ill-gotten gains, would the police turn a blind eye to it?
Depends if they can catch you with minimal paperwork. I have lost most of my faith in the police; overworked, underfunded.
certainly not don't be naive.
NO they would not. Especially if you come within the scope of the Southend Police - they would want it for themselves.
No, you have still committed an offence under the theft act, because you are still permanently depriving the original lawful owner of their property.

If you return the property to its lawful owner then you are simply making a recovery of stolen property and intent to permanently deprive no longer exists, it is therefore not theft.

This does not mean that other offences have not been committed during the recovery process.

Don't do it.
doubtful....2 wrongs do NOT actually make a right
Not unless you are a member of a minority group
i doubt it , it would make you as bad as they are if you robbed
no you know what coppers are like
I doubt it it . In my past experience with the police the criminals ALWAYS win!
No, it isn't a good idea to steal from the government, unless you're in charge of Food for Oil or something like that.
no 2 rongs dnt make a right!
No because if you did that, you are then classed as a robber or burglar.

Don't lower yourself to their standard. You will be treated the smae and someone else may send the same question about what you may do!!
YES they would and you need to take that to the furthest extreme and concentrate on politicians because they are all crooks.
if you gave the police their cut they might
Dirty cops would, yes.
In the USA I don't think they would turn a blind eye to this. Regardless of how the criminals got the goods. It would be a crime for someone to steal from them. I know it doesn't seem fair. But if everyone went around stealing from stealers what kind of state would we be in?
i would think they would consider you to be the same.. or an accessory...

but hey... an eye for an eye is usually all well and good, but they didnt take your eye.. now did they?
In police parlance, this is often referred to as a double header. Two for the price of one. One crook robs another crook. A case is made against the robber and the robb'ee'. Both go to jail.

It's more revered in homicide cases though. One street useless street thug kills another doper, useless street thug. Then the surviving useless thug is prosecuted and sent away for the rest of his/her life, so society ends up with a population reduction of two, all from the same event. :) The lord works in strange ways, but the lord knows the right of his toil.
do like one genius did. he robbed the mother of a mafia don.

the police didn't have to do anything, the mafia took care of the problem.
I'm sorry my friend...........but NO. That would be cool. Let's say your Mum's house gets burglarized, I mean they take everything, but wait........isn't there this new service,';WE CROOK CROOKS'; Yeah, you're right, they'll take care of those dirty guys....I'll get your things back Mum, we'll get the extended plan, those guys from ';CROOKS'; will take the crooks things as well. It's too bad that wouldn't work. In a small way that would be what's called ';Vigilantism';. Illegal in my Country and yours. That's right ';Old Man';, they would put you and me in jail for doing exactly the same thing....plus they would try to charge us with the ';Vigilante'; crime. Might be a good idea, if they wouldn't put a guy in jail LOL.............LATER
Of course someone would have to report the crime, what are they going to do, call the police and report thier stolen property was stolen
No, but I would, limey.

Cool!
i dont think that makes sence, they want it for themselves so if it valuable they take it from you.
Nope-you'd be added to the 'wanted list'. The act of robbery'd have the Bobbies huntin' ya, mate.
I certainly hope so, but it's still a good idea to avoid getting caught.
The police wouldn't even notice, they would be too busy eating ';free'; take-a-ways! ( As usual!).
no because belive it or not the criminals booty becomes his own so if you steal it form him that is also theft...and so onononon
you would probeley be unlucky and get caught.
Unlikely... who are you anyway, Robin Hood? lol
Theft of stolen property, in America ,is a crime. England surely has similar laws.
