What would happen if a presidential candidate became ill?

If a presidential candidate became ill and could not run any longer. Then they would have to nominate someone else to be the head of that party. Only if it were the only two people left. (for instance McCain and Obama). But if like when at the beginning when they are jhust getting their name out there, then they would just have to drop out.What would happen if a presidential candidate became ill?
Maybe nothing . can't you see the way Hussein who's clearly mentally ill is running !?

NO OBAMA 08!

I will NOT vote for the man who sat in a racist church for 2 decades.

I will NOT vote for the man who has a terrible racist wife who ';will always be a black first.';

I will Not vote for the man who has been officially endorsed by anti-American terrorist organizations such as Hamas

I will NOT vote for the man who lies shamelessly

I will Not go for the man who ';changes'; his attitude towards Iraq war every other day.What would happen if a presidential candidate became ill?
Why is there something we need to know about Baracks

ears. If the candidate should falter do to illness, and was

unable to proceed. The person who was the last to drop

out of the race would have a shot. However Romney and

Huckabee would have to hold a run off. they were really

close.
Someone else steps in.

ADD: I'm sorry, if the candidate's illness precludes their ability to continue with the campaign, someone steps in. It was in my head, I just didn't really expand on it while writing.
Interesting question, I would assume the next popular person would step in:

Obama = Clinton

McCain = Romney
The person is just a candidate? Probably see a doctor. They ain't in the White House yet!
He'd probably lose the election.
You mean if he died? The vice president would step in.
How ill?
he'd see the white house doctor
